Teenagers are afraid of the future, of the question “what are you going to do with your life?” While we are afraid of what we will do, we are most afraid of what we won’t: we are afraid to waste our lives. In a culture that has told us we have no purpose except the one we assign to ourselves, (follow your dreams, do what you love, be successful!) some of us ask the question
“Is that enough?”
“Lift with your knees, not with your back.” Awww, that’s rubbish, I thought, as the familiar piece of advice drifted into my mind as I prepared to lift a heavy box. Christmas time is near!

Reformation day (October 31st) has come and gone, leaving homes more full of candy than good feelings. Thanksgiving is fast approaching. We gather in our homes, filled with friends, family, and fun, and we give thanks. We sit by our blazing fires (or space heaters) to combat the slowly chilling November weather. We settle down to schedules, to school, and “all the comforts of home.” (GJ, if you got that reference).
But fast approaching is the “hustle and bustle” of what we call the Holiday Season, or more appropriately, the busiest time of the year. Continue reading
